Inside The Rockport Group: A Home For Shoemakers

Rockport_Group-8_Header We are shoemakers. Whether we're sketching footwear designs, creating shoe lasts or working in spreadsheets, each person at The Rockport Group is always working toward our common goal: making amazing shoes. And this is the very sentiment that is woven throughout our headquarters in Newton, Massachusetts. Here's a behind-the-scenes look at where we work (and sometimes play)... Rockport_Group-10 Walk into our HQ and try missing our manifesto, a description of our values as shoemakers that is prominently displayed at the main entrance of the building. A brief history lesson: Rockport was founded in Massachusetts in 1971, so there was no question that our home would stay true to our roots and New England heritage in both location and design. The space was inspired by this heritage and our commitment to – and passion for – the art of shoemaking. Rockport_Group-5 Our HQ serves as a hub for our employees around the world across all three of our brands – Rockport, Aravon and Dunham. Special nods to the shoe-making craft can be found throughout the building, including our “last” wall (complete with shoe lasts and shoe quotes). Rockport_Group-31 Naturally, just about everywhere you look in the building, there are shoes. Currently, we're putting the finishing touches on our Fall and Spring 2018 lines and selling our Fall 2017 collection. This season's women's collection features fresh takes on some of fashion's most bold and exciting trends. Think boots (of all kinds), seventies-inspired block heels and statement making textiles and accents. As always, every style is designed with the latest in comfort technology, for shoes that feel as good as they look. WomensShoes

The men's fall collection focuses on both heritage and innovation while emphasizing designs that move easily from season to season. We're continuing to update tried-and-true classics with cutting-edge athletic technology and, as always, offering styles you can rely on to keep feet warm and dry. MensShoes

Back to our office. The space has a crafted yet modern feel, featuring exposed brick, industrial-themed staircases and large bright windows. Rockport_Group-34 Since shoemaking is a true team effort, there are several common areas designed for collaboration throughout the building, including a large lounge area complete with a warm double-sided fireplace. Rockport_Group-4 Our open-concept kitchen includes large dining tables and booth seating. Rockport_Group-3 Large glass doors off the dining area open up to our outdoor patio, with a fire pit, grill and water feature – all of which we've been enjoying all summer. HQ Rockport_Group-37 Our “hide” wall, another nod to our shoemaking craft. Rockport_Group-23 Each employee’s business card and office/cubicle nameplate features their shoe size and a character trait specific to them, such as “storyteller” or “wanderer,” as well as their shoe size and one collective description: shoemaker. Rockport_Group-162 'The opening of our new headquarters was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this year. Rockport_Group-65 Lots of celebrating – and of course cake – was had! Rockport_Group-90 And no celebration is complete without a group photo! We're excited to call Newton our home and look forward to sharing more behind-the-scenes footage from our HQ with you. Be sure to follow us on social for the latest.
