Fall Spotlight on “Shooties” and How To Style Them

Total Motion Kalila Cutout Shootie Change is in the air. The weather is cooling down, leaves are starting to turn, and the kids are back to school. It’s the perfect time to refresh your look and adopt a few of the new Fall trends happening right now. That doesn’t mean you have to completely overhaul your wardrobe. Simply adding a few key pieces to your current collection can instantly update your style and seamlessly transition you into the new season. Here in New England, the Fall weather keeps us on our toes. We dress in layers and rely on versatile footwear because we’re not quite ready to cover our tired pedicures with full-on boots and socks. Enter: The Shootie. The perfect blend of a bootie and a shoe, the shootie is the ultimate year-round shoe and a worthy long-term sartorial investment. How does one style a shootie, you ask? Dressed up or down, from work to weekend excursions, the options for styling shooties are endless. In fact, we’ll just come out and say it: shooties are our best friend in making the transition to cooler weather a bit easier. To spotlight our beloved shootie, we’ve styled three different looks featuring some of our favorite Fall finds, many of which can be interchanged with one and other, depending upon what your day (and your local weather forecast) has in store.

That light summer dress you planned to store away for the next six months? No need! Now is the perfect time to refresh it with textured layers. We love how this dusty rose dress pairs beautifully with our Kalila Cutout Shooties in vino suede. This dark red color is even bigger than last Fall and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon. We’ve been coveting this vegan suede jacket. The taupe color makes it extremely versatile and the soft suede will add luxe texture to any ensemble. Mix in accessories in the same color family to tie it all together. Think neutral Fall hues with a few pops.

Just Add Tights

Another way to “Fall”-proof a lightweight dress is to add tights to the equation. A patterned dress like this one with tights and a little bootie is totally on-trend (and also super comfortable). These Rockport Cobb Hill “Joy” booties have a low wedge to lend you a little lift, while the foam footbeds keep you comfortable from your morning commute to your evening cocktail. Again, throw on a suede jacket to add texture and warmth, or add a chunky sweater for a cute skirted look. Finish off with a few neutral accessories and a subtle pop of color a la the muted blue in this scarf and tassel earrings (another one of our fave trends for Fall!).

Fall-Proof Florals

Add a dose of sophistication to your favorite denim this Fall with polished pieces, like the Rockport Cobb Hill “Melissa” shootie, that will easily take you from work to weekend. We are lusting over this bright floral tie-neck shirt from J. Crew. Spring florals have made their way into Fall and can serve as the centerpiece of your outfit as you incorporate more muted, classic pieces around them. Throw on a structured blazer for a tailored look, and don’t be afraid to mix patterns and textures to add interest. Swap the blazer with the chunky sweater for a more relaxed feel, and add accessories in cool tones and hardware in antiqued gold to finish the look. If you are a shootie newbie, and you’re ready to give them a try, we’d love to hear from you. How are you wearing yours and what are you pairing them with for Fall?
